Easy Bond Hoof Blocks - hardwood 130mm (XL)&hardwood 110mm (standard length)

These Genuine Easybond 130m blocks are cross grooved for better adhesion (some blocks only have slots, rather than cross grooves).  The cross grooves allow more glue area to the hoof and give good lateral and medial strength to the block attachment.  Manufactured from kiln dried hardwood, these blocks will last several weeks if correctly fitted (depending on conditions).

The standard block is 110mm long and the XL block 130mm long. If in doubt, use the 110mm block as it is better to have the block fit within the hoof size than overlap the edges - although the blocks can be cut down if required.
These blocks are sold as each.
Lameness often occurs where an animal has a problem with one claw - a hole, lesion, lodged stone etc - and a proven method of aiding recovery is to take the weight off that claw by gluing a block or boot on the healthy claw. In this way the sore claw is slightly elevated and takes less weight, allowing it to recover.
Hoof blocks or boots are generally not removed, but allowed to slough off naturally in time. Depending on the type of product used and the conditions the boot or block may stay on several weeks.
Requirements for the Easy Bond system:
• Easy Bond Hoof blocks
• Easy Bond Dispensing gun

The Easy Bond system is a simple and fast way of attaching blocks and requires no special skills. After diagnosing the problem with the animal's sore claw, clean and level the base of the healthy claw with a hoof knife. It needs to be clean and dry for the glue to adhere. The glue is a fast setting 2-part mix, but the beauty of this system is you don't have to mix it. Fit a cartridge to the dispensing gun, cut the cartridge tip open and fit a mixing tip. Check which side of the block you are going to apply the glue to (size it up on the claw, then turn it over and apply the glue to the side which was on the claw). Apply the glue to the hoof block - the mixing tip mixes the glue for you. Apply enough glue to take up the spaces in the grooves and take up the space between any unevenness of the hoof and the block - apply like a cement rather than a contact glue (this gets easier with practise - you will work out the amount to use by seeing how much gets squeezed out when you apply the block). Place the block on the claw and press firmly. Hold for few moments, then leave the claw elevated for a while. The glue sets in 30 seconds and is able to load bear in two minutes.
10 - 15 blocks can be fitted per 160cc cartridge of glue. When you have finished, leave the tip on the cartridge and allow the glue to set in it. This seals the glue tube for storage. Next time you use the glue, take off and discard the used mixing tip with the glue set inside and fit a new mixing tip - and you are ready to go. The glue cartridge does come with a storage cap, so if you prefer you can discard the tip after use and use the storage cap for added security.
Note that once opened, the glue does need to be used in the same season.
Unlike some of the competition brands, Easy Bond 160cc cartridges come in a vacuum sealed plastic wrap and store well when unopened. We still recommend new glue be used each season where possible.
