Chinese Academy of Sciences professor peak recently, some restaurants use unknown sources, unclear food seasonings (mainly poppy shells) production of hot pot material, has aroused widespread concern. In this regard, the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, the Ministry of Health and other departments issued an emergency notice in recent days, requiring all localities to investigate this issue closely. So what's the secret of making an addictive hotpot? We listen to expert interpretation -

“Hotpot restaurants appeal to diners to add poppies to the base material” has been circulating in society. This is not groundless. Some media reports have confirmed this rumor. In mid-September 2004, the police in Lanzhou had cracked a case of trafficking in poppy shells. They rent freight cars and transport poppy husks to Chongqing, Chengdu and other places for distribution to local hot pot restaurants. In December 2008, the disease control center of Leshan City, Sichuan Province, conducted a special monitoring of 401 catering operators in the urban area on whether or not the base material was added with poppy husks. The results showed that papaline was unqualified and positive in the soup of 12 shops. Is it possible to add poppy husk to the bottom of the hot pot?

Poppy hulls can not be said that the main role of addictive poppy shells can enhance the taste of the theory is not theoretically speaking. Poppy shell itself is not taste, how to mention one? Some poppy husks even have a bitter bitter taste. From this point of view, it would not be a tasting taste to say that the taste is improved. The hot pot soup base itself has very little effect on the taste of food, especially the soup base. Its main role is to cook the food, and the taste of the food mainly comes from other auxiliary seasonings such as hemp sauce, sesame oil, and seafood.

Catering operators use poppy husks in hot pots to make them mainly addictive. Poppy husks are actually dried husks of poppies, which are usually harvested in the fall. When the fruit of the poppy is fully grown but not yet mature, the medicinal pulp is harvested, and the fruit is taken off and broken to remove the seeds and branches and then dried. Compared with opium and heroin, although the content of toxic substances in the poppy shell is not large and the purity is not high, its composition also includes more than 30 kinds of alkaloids such as morphine, cocaine, narcotine and papaverine. Injecting a shot or taking a heroin can quickly make people feel excited. Although the excitement of eating poppy shells is not so obvious, long-term consumption will lead to chronic poisoning and eventually become addictive. Whether or not eating “Poppy Shell Hotpot” is immediately addictive varies from person to person, because different people have different susceptibility to drugs, and people are naturally highly sensitive to dependent drugs.

The crushed poppy husks were hard to be found by the diners. The peasants found that the complete poppy hull was oval or bottle-shaped, with a pointed tip and 6 to 14 radially arranged crowns on the other. However, most of the poppy husks have been broken into flaky shapes. The inner surface is pale yellow, slightly shiny, and has a brownish-yellow pseudo-membrane arranged longitudinally and covered with slightly raised tan dots. The outer surface is yellowish-white. Light brown, lavender staggered, smooth, slightly shiny, often with a knife mark for cutting. However, more often than not, "Poppy Shell Hotpot" is hardly noticeable by diners. Because some unscrupulous hot pot shop owners usually do not put the whole poppy shell into the soup and grind it, the poppy shell is pulverized and added directly to the food.

Long-term consumption of poppy-containing foods is toxic to the heart and liver. Poppy is a two-year-old herbaceous plant, its flower is very beautiful, after the flowers have grown into a slender lantern-shaped green fruit. In the morning, the drug maker used a knife to cut a shallow incision in the fruit, and the white juice immediately flowed out. After a day of sun exposure, it turned into a brown-black paste at night. This is the famous drug—the raw opium paste. The content of morphine in opium is as high as 9.5%. About 0.2% of morphine remains in poppy fruit that has been cut in opium juice. Adding it to food, alkaloids, such as morphine, begin to dissolve and enter the body with food.

Although alkaloids in poppy hulls are small in content and have no effect on drug addicts, their usefulness should not be underestimated for most people who have never been exposed to drugs and are highly sensitive to drugs. If foods containing drugs are consumed for a long period of time, symptoms such as chills, sweating, fatigue, paler muscle, lean, and drowsiness will occur. In severe cases, the nervous system and digestive system may be damaged, and even symptoms such as endocrine disorders may occur. It has certain toxic effects on the human liver and heart, can make people feel happy, is in a special state of pleasure, and gradually produces dependence and addiction. The criminals are using this to attract repeat customers. When diners ate this kind of food, they began to “eat and want to eat” and “can't forget to eat it”. When they become dependent, they “don't eat and eat”.

The Conventional Hemp Seed and the certified Organic Hemp Seed are both grown in Canada without the use of pesticides and/or herbicides, both are Non-GMO (genetically modified organism) and are Gluten-Free. These Hemp Seeds are referred to as "conventional" as they have not gone through an "Organic Certification"
