The cooling medium commonly used for water-soluble drop pills typically includes methyl silicone oil, liquid paraffin, and other vegetable oils. Over time, these mediums can become contaminated with moisture due to environmental humidity and human handling, causing them to turn cloudy or opaque. This turbidity negatively affects the roundness of the drop pills and may lead to leakage issues when water is introduced in large quantities. To address this, some methods like precipitation and release are employed, but they are not always effective. The issue of water absorption by the cooling medium due to temperature drops remains challenging, as water molecules can remain dispersed within the medium.
Moreover, during long-term use, solid particles from the drop pills that are released during the formation process can also be carried into the cooling medium through exhaust gases, further increasing its cloudiness. In an attempt to resolve these issues, some manufacturers use silica gel for moisture absorption and high-density filtration to remove impurities. However, this approach has limitations—silica gel requires large quantities, and the process of de-oiling and drying it is both time-consuming and inefficient.
To overcome these challenges, Yantai Development Zone Bosen Pharmaceutical Machinery Co., Ltd. developed the ZGJ-60 cooling medium dewatering filter, which provides a more effective and practical solution. The system works by first pumping the used silicone oil into a closed storage tank. An electric heating system then warms the heat transfer oil, which in turn heats the cooling medium. This reduces the viscosity of the medium and helps evaporate the water content. The steam is then removed via a vacuum pump, followed by passing the heated oil through an activated carbon filter and a 0.2 µm titanium alloy filter. After cooling, the purified medium is re-injected back into the drop pill machine.
This device features a compact design, high automation, and precise temperature and pressure control, making it suitable for processing various types of media. Once the viscosity of the silicone oil is confirmed, it is reintroduced into the production line. Some manufacturers still rely on boiling methods, but this often leads to uneven temperature control, which can cause the medium to gelatinize and affect the quality of the drop pills during the molding process.
