Heart Photo Collage by popular Florida lifestyle blogger Fresh Mommy Blog

For quite some time now, I've been itching to create a collage using some Instagram prints I ordered a while back. With several empty photo frames scattered around our house (as a photographer, this feels like a cardinal sin!) and numerous blank walls in our rental property waiting to be filled, I’ve had countless DIY ideas swirling in my head and scribbled into my to-do notebooks. After experimenting with a few concepts and pulling out an old frame from Brayden's former nursery that had been gathering dust in the garage, I finally decided on a heart-shaped photo collage featuring prints I love gazing at over and over again. It turned out to be surprisingly easy to assemble once I got started. Here’s how it all went down…

DIY HEART PHOTO COLLAGE

What You'll Need:

  • Instagram prints (I went with Postalpix this time)
  • A double-sided tape roller
  • A piece of poster board
  • A picture frame
  • A ruler (optional)

To begin, trim your poster board to match the dimensions of your chosen frame. In my case, I traced the matte included in the frame onto the poster board, cut it out carefully, and made sure everything lined up perfectly. Next, start laying out your photos to get a feel for how you want to arrange them, considering factors like color schemes and overall aesthetics.

Once you're happy with the layout, use a ruler to ensure the edges of your heart shape are equidistant from the sides of the poster board. Secure the outermost photos with a scrapbook double-sided tape roller, and continue placing the remaining photos inside the heart-shaped outline. Rotate the outermost photos slightly so they form clean lines along the edges of the heart.

After confirming that the colors flow well and the images are positioned exactly as desired, add tape to each photo and press them firmly into place. This step ensures stability and helps maintain the heart shape throughout the process.

All in all, this project was fairly straightforward and took me approximately 20 minutes to complete. Since I already owned most of the supplies, my expenses were minimal—just the cost of the prints (under $5) and the poster board.

Have you tried making any creative art pieces at home recently? Maybe even attempted your own heart photo collage? I'm still working on filling my empty bathroom walls with similar projects!

It’s funny how sometimes the simplest projects can bring the most satisfaction. This heart photo collage has quickly become one of my favorite decor pieces in the house. The best part? It didn’t cost much, and it gave me a chance to reflect on some cherished moments captured through my lens. If you’re looking for a quick weekend project or something meaningful to gift someone special, I highly recommend giving this a try. Let me know if you give it a shot—I’d love to see what you come up with!
