It was one of those chaotic mornings where time seemed to stretch endlessly, yet somehow still manage to slip away faster than expected. I was rummaging through the depths of my closet, searching high and low for the elusive mate to my shoe. The sky outside hung heavy with clouds, refusing to let the sunlight break through and brighten the gloomy scene. I knew I was running late, but I couldn’t help but feel slightly amused at how life often finds ways to throw small challenges your way just when you’re least prepared.
As my fingers brushed against something soft and fluffy in the farthest corner of the closet, I pulled out what I had been looking for—a perfectly matched black slip-on shoe. Relief washed over me as I grabbed my bag and hurried out the door, mentally preparing myself for the day ahead.
Fast forward a few hours, now bathed in the warm glow of natural light streaming through the window, I returned to the same spot in the closet to put everything back in order. That’s when I saw them—a tiny cluster of kittens nestled among the sweaters. They were so small, so fragile, their little bodies curled up together like a ball of fluff. I couldn’t resist the urge to name them all immediately. Seven little souls, each with their own personality already shining through.
Over the next few weeks, I found myself growing increasingly attached to these tiny creatures. Watching them grow stronger every day filled me with joy, but it also brought a pang of sadness whenever one of them was finally adopted into a new family. Their transition from our home to theirs was bittersweet, but knowing they were going to wonderful families helped ease the pain.
Now, years later, the memory of those kittens remains vivid in my mind, a cherished part of my childhood. And now, surprisingly, we find ourselves in a similar situation again. Two new additions to our household—Edward and Jacob.
These two little brothers arrived just days before Christmas, and from the moment we held them, there was no question in anyone’s mind that they belonged with us. Their big personalities quickly won over everyone who met them, especially my four-year-old niece, whose heart melted instantly. She pleaded with us to keep all of them, reminding me of the countless times I had felt the same way when I was her age.
But life has its own rhythm, and sometimes letting go is part of the journey. So here they are—Edward and Jacob, two adorable bundles of fur who have already brought so much happiness into our lives.
Internet, meet Edward and Jacob.

And yes, this story wouldn’t be complete without mentioning that I’ve already started brainstorming names for the next batch—if it happens!
Until then, I’ll continue to cherish every moment with these little guys. After all, who can resist the charm of a kitten?
